This photo depicts a mature, pure white, ivory gull as it soars in the blue skies above Plymouth Harbor in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on January 27, 2009.  This rare bird is seldom seen below the Arctic Circle, and is an extremely rare sight in Massachusetts.  This is believed to be only the 2nd fully mature adult ivory gull observed in Massachusetts since the early 1800s.
